Facts. What do we do with your Personal Data

At Allianz Group, your privacy is important to us and we are committed to openness and transparency in regard to how we collect, use, transfer and share your personal data. Please read this privacy notice carefully and don’t hesitate to contact us with any remaining questions.

Why?

Like most companies, we need to collect and process Personal Data to run our everyday business including this website. At Allianz, we make it a principle to treat this data with Due Care which is why we only collect and process Personal Data for a specified, legitimate business purpose and always seek to limit the amount of data to what is essentially required.

The purposes for which we might ask you for your Personal Data on this site

  • to communicate with you in order to answer any of your questions and inquiries you pose via our contact form or by any other means of electronic communication (email, tweets or messages on social networks such as Facebook or Google+)
  • to provide you with electronic newsletters in case you decided to sign up for them.

Furthermore, we automatically collect certain information that is sent to us by your web browser when you visit our website. This information is aggregated or anonymized and used for diagnostic purposes, to help us provide more useful information to our customers,  and to enable us to understand which parts of our website are of most interest.

What?

The types of Personal Data we collect, process and share depend on the purpose, and therefore mostly on the relationship you have with us.

If you are just visiting our website using a web browser:
This information includes the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; certain computer and connection information such as browser type, version, and time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system, and platform; the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to and from our Web site, including date and time.

This information includes your email address and – in case you provided us with this optional pieces of information – your name.

If you decide to follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Google+:

We generally retain your data only as long as we need it for the specific purpose and in accordance with regulatory archiving requirements. This period depends on the kind of data and the purpose, and can last up to six years. After that time we anonymize or delete your Personal Data, unless you explicitly allowed us to keep it longer.

How?

Like most companies we need to process and occasionally share Personal Data to run our  everyday business. In the section below, we describe how we do this and whether you can limit this sharing.

Information Security: Your Personal Data will be collected and securely stored in a dedicated application on IT systems and networks that are subject to the strict information security requirements common within Allianz Group. We restrict access to your Personal Data to only those of our employees that need to work  with it.

Use of Google Analytics: This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how the site is used. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. We have activated the IP anonymization function in the Google Analytics code (“gat._anonymizeIp() ). Therefore, Google will truncate/anonymize the last octet of the IP address for Member States of the European Union as well as for other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases, the full IP address is sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA.

On behalf of the website provider,  Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage.   Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

Furthermore you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.

Use of Social Media plugins: Our website uses the following Social Media Plugins (“Plugins“)

  • Facebook Share Button operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA
  • Google+ Button operated by Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
  • Tweet Button operated by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA

All Plugins are marked with the brand of the respective operators Facebook, Google or Twitter (“Operators”). In order to increase the level of data privacy and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, we have implemented the Plugins by way of  a so called “2 click solution”. This implementation ensures that when visiting our website no direct connection of your browser with the servers from the Operators will be established.  Only if you activate the Plugins by clicking on them  and, therefore,  giving your consent to the data transfer, your browser will establish a direct connection to the server of the respective Operator. The content of the Plugin is then transmitted directly to your browser by the Operators and included by them in the webpage.

By integrating the Plugin, the respective Operator receives the information that your browser has accessed the webpage of our website.   If you have logged into your respective account while visiting our website, the respective Operator can directly connect the visit to your account. If you interact with the Plugin, for example by clicking “Share”, “+1” or the “Tweet Button” the corresponding information is transmitted from your browser directly to the Operator and stored by it.  Further, the information will be made public in the respective social network or in your Twitter account and shown to your contacts . If you do not wish to have such data transferred to the Operators, you need to log out of your respective account before clicking on and activating the Plugins.

Please see the Operators’ data privacy statements in order to get further information about purpose and scope of the data collection and the processing and use:

Further sharing of your data: In addition to the cases described above, we may use a Data Processor, which collects and or processes your Personal Data on our behalf, under our supervision and strictly in accordance with our directions. Allianz Group’s internal privacy policies strictly demands the conclusion of written data processing agreements with any such Data Processor.

Apart from those cases, we do not and will not share your Personal Data with any third-parties, unless you have provided us with your explicit consent.

Your Choice: As a company, we adhere to the principle of Choice and Consent. Therefore, whenever we ask you for your consent to collect and process your Personal Data for a certain purpose, you can always and for any reason decide to withdraw this consent at a later time. Just let us know and we will act on it accordingly.

The laws of our jurisdiction may provide for further measures to enforce your privacy rights. In addition, however, compliance with these policies is monitored by us and the Group Data Protection Officer of Allianz Group as well as through our internal audit processes. We strive to deserve the trust you put into us by letting us be the steward of your Personal Data.
